Why ChatGPT's Built-in Export Isn't Enough
ChatGPT's own export emails you a ZIP of every conversation as raw JSON — there's no single-chat option and no PDF or DOCX at all. Printing to PDF from the browser drags in the sidebar and buttons and needs you to scroll the whole chat first. This exports just the conversation, in the format you actually want. How to Use It
Get it from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. It activates automatically on chatgpt.com.
Hover any chat in the sidebar and click the ⋯ that appears on its row, or click the ⋯ at the top of the conversation you're reading. To export several at once, switch to the Chat Workspace or Batch Select.
Open Export and choose pdf, docx, md, txt, or json. If a window with the chat's messages opens first, click Export there. The file downloads in a couple of seconds, with the chat title as the filename; PDF goes through your browser's print dialog, where you choose Save as PDF (Save to PDF in Firefox).
Free vs Pro
All five formats are free, including batch and whole-project exports. Free batches cover up to 7 chats at a time, and free exports carry a small "Generated with ChatGPT Pro Tools" footer. The optional Pro tier ($4.99/mo) removes that footer, lifts the 7-chat batch cap, and unlocks the message picker so you can export only selected messages instead of the whole chat.
