About ChatGPT Pro Tools
ChatGPT Pro Tools is a browser extension that turns chatgpt.com into a managed workspace: a full-screen Chat Workspace with search, filters, and bulk actions, AI Tags across your whole history, notes, saved messages, a prompt manager, and export to PDF, DOCX, Markdown, and TXT. It has been built and shipped continuously since August 2025 — free to install, with a Pro plan at $4.99/mo.
This site is two things: the product's home (the features hub and pricing) and a blog about working with ChatGPT — organizing a big history, exporting conversations, and comparing the extensions that live in this niche, including our direct competitors.
How it started
The first version reached the Chrome Web Store on August 19, 2025, and it did exactly one thing: pin a conversation to the top of the sidebar. ChatGPT had no pinning back then, and a history of a few hundred chats in one flat, reverse-chronological list was already hard to live in.
Five months later ChatGPT shipped pinning itself — so we deleted ours. That turned out to set the direction. What the native sidebar still couldn't do was act on more than one conversation at a time, so the same January 2026 release added multi-select delete and archive instead. Every version since has followed the same rule: build what the sidebar is missing, and drop it the day ChatGPT ships it natively.
That path led to the Chat Workspace, then to AI Tags in May 2026 — an on-device model that reads only your chat titles and gives a thousand conversations a topic vocabulary — and to a Pro plan in June 2026 for the parts that cost money to run. The extension is on version 3.6.6 today, and what's still missing from the sidebar is what decides what gets built next.
