Why ChatGPT's Composer Isn't Enough
ChatGPT takes whatever you type and answers it — there's no built-in "make this prompt better" step. So a half-formed request gets a half-useful reply, and you burn turns re-explaining what you meant. The Prompt Optimizer adds the missing step: it rewrites the draft for clarity and specificity before the model ever sees it.
How to Use It
Get it from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. It activates automatically on chatgpt.com.
Type a rough version of your request in the composer and click the Optimize button. Set the tone and length, and add shared context if the task needs it.
The rewritten prompt replaces your draft in the composer. Tweak anything you like, then send it to ChatGPT.
Free vs Pro
The optimizer runs in the cloud by default, in Chrome, Edge and Firefox alike: one free run a month, unlimited with the optional Pro tier ($4.99/mo). On Chrome it can also run on your device, free and with no limit — turn on Settings → AI → On-device AI (a one-time download of Chrome's built-in model, several GB) and pick it from the chip beside Optimize; it also takes over once the month's free cloud run is used. A cloud run sends only the draft you're optimizing, with its tone, length and context, and none of it is stored; on the device nothing is sent. If you tag your history too, Pro makes AI Tags unlimited in the cloud as well.

Does my prompt get sent to a server?
Yes, when it runs in the cloud, which is the default. An Optimize click sends the draft you're optimizing, with its tone, length and context, to our server, which has Google's Gemini rewrite it and keeps none of it. On Chrome you can run it on your device instead (On-device AI in Settings → AI), and then nothing is sent.
Does the Prompt Optimizer work on Firefox?
Yes. It runs in the cloud there, as in Chrome and Edge — one free run a month, unlimited with Pro — and the draft is sent only when you click Optimize. Firefox has no built-in AI model, so running it on your device is Chrome only.
Can I control the tone and length?
Yes. The optimizer has adjustable tone and length, plus an optional shared context field so the rewrite fits the task you're working on.
