How ChatGPT Share Links Work
ChatGPT's Share button turns a conversation into a public URL — chatgpt.com/share/ followed by a long id — that anyone can open without a ChatGPT account. The owner can delete the link at any time from their Shared Links settings, which is why a previously working link can suddenly stop resolving.
This viewer fetches that public page's data through our server (browsers can't read chatgpt.com from another site directly), extracts the messages ChatGPT actually displays — following the active branch when a conversation was edited or regenerated — and renders them as a transcript. Images generated or uploaded in the chat are shown whenever the share page exposes a loadable URL for them; some internal attachments aren't published on share pages, and the viewer notes those instead of showing a broken image.

Do you store the conversations I view?
No. Our server fetches the shared conversation from ChatGPT the moment you submit the link (browsers can't read chatgpt.com from another site directly), passes it straight to your browser, and keeps no copy. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Why not just open the link on chatgpt.com?
You can — but logged-out visitors get a login banner and sign-up prompts, and there's no way to copy the conversation out. This viewer shows a clean reading view with rendered markdown and code blocks, plus one-click Copy as Markdown.
Does it work with chatgpt.com/c/ links?
No. URLs that look like chatgpt.com/c/… are private chats — only the logged-in owner can open them, and no external tool can read them. This viewer works only with public share links (chatgpt.com/share/…) created with ChatGPT's Share button.
Can the chat owner see that I viewed it?
No. ChatGPT share pages have no view counter or visitor log, and this tool doesn't notify anyone. Viewing a public share link is anonymous — the owner sees nothing.
